چکیده

In the southern part of the Great Hungarian Plain there are two different groundwater flow systems located in the study area. Between these two systems there is a narrow groundwater divide where groundwater flow cannot be detected. In the western part, groundwater of greater hardness moves from the northwest, west and southwest. In the eastern part, groundwater flow is from southeast to northwest. The directions of groundwater flow have been established on the basis of dissolved monoand di-valent cation concentrations. The major direction of groundwater flow detected by a statistical evaluation of water chemical data agrees with previous geological investigations.

Inverse geochemical modeling of groundwater evolution with emphasis on arsenic in the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer, Arkansas (USA)

r a 200 .027 sent add gmail.c Summary Inverse geochemical modeling (PHREEQC) was used to identify the evolution of groundwater with emphasis on arsenic (As) release under reducing conditions in the shallow (25–30 m) Mississippi River Valley Alluvial aquifer, Arkansas, USA. The modeling was based on flow paths defined by high-precision (±2 cm) water level contour map; X-ray diffraction (XRD), sc...

EPISODIC STREAM-AQUIFER INTERACTIONS IN A PENNSnVANIA URBAN/AGRICULTURAL WATERSHED

It is hypothesized that overland flow from urbanizing and agricultural land uses will enhance stream-groundwater interactions. Near-channel groundwater chemistry and hydraulics were studied during runoff events to test this hypothesis and to increase the understanding of hyporheic processes important to stream chemistry and ecology. Twenty-four piezometers (0.3to 1-meter depth) were installed a...

Hydrogeochemical Processes, Mixing and Isotope Tracing in Hard Rock Aquifers and Surface Waters from the Subarnarekha River Basin, (east Singhbhum District, Jharkhand State India)

2 Abstract The chemical and isotopic compositions of river and groundwater reflect the different natural processes that provide chemical elements to the dissolved load, i.e. mainly the weathering of rocks and soils, atmospheric inputs and anthropogenic disturbances. This study reports on the geochemistry of surface-and groundwater along a part of the Subarnarekha River system (northeastern Indi...

Investigating future changes in groundwater quantity and quality in the Khash alluvial aquifer through numerical groundwater flow and solute transport modeling

The Khash alluvial aquifer, in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, supplies the water needed for agriculture, drinking, and industry in the Khash area. In order to predict the future status of groundwater level and water quality, and to find aquifer management solutions, groundwater flow and solute transport models were developed using MODFLOW and MT3DMS. GMS 10.3 was used to develop the model. Ca...

Tracing Groundwater Flow on a Barrier Island in the North-east Gulf of Mexico

Groundwater flow on St. George Island, a barrier island in the north-east Gulf of Mexico, was monitored downfield from wastewater systems using artificial tracer techniques. Sulphur hexafluoride and fluorescein dye were used to determine groundwater flow velocity, hydraulic conductivity, and dispersivity at selected sites on the island. Monthly hydraulic head measurements illustrate the aquifer...
